Biography
Described as a “stylish, vibrant” singer by David Gordon of the Carmel Bach Festival, Ms. Manring has performed roles with Syracuse Opera, Oswego Opera, Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, and has been featured as a soloist with Winsor Music in Boston, the Master Chorale of Washington at the Kennedy Center, and the New York Chorale at Weill Recital Hall. Ms. Manring made her summer festival debut singing Bach’s Cantata 51, Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen, at the Skaneateles Festival in New York, which won her praise from the Syracuse Post Standard for her “control and finesse.” Last August, she performed as a guest artist at Colorado’s Steamboat Springs Strings Festival for Vivaldi’s Gloria (RV 589). Ms. Manring’s recent operatic roles include “Pamina” in The Magic Flute with CRS Barn Studio in Ithaca, NY, and “Kate” in Syracuse Opera’s production of The Pirates of Penzance. Upcoming performances include concerts with Lexington-based “Musick’s Company” in May 2012.
Ms. Manring was a Finalist in the 2009 Washington DC Vocal Arts Society’s Art Song Discovery Auditions and was the recipient of several performance awards from Syracuse University, where she earned her MM in voice performance. Last year she completed her doctoral studies in voice performance at Peabody Conservatory with 20th-century luminary Phyllis Bryn-Julson. Her other teachers include American sopranos Janet Brown and Helen Boatwright.
